Get out your calendars! It is soon time for the grande finale event at Gallery 55- the closing party. I know I've seen a LOT of you who could come to the opening & 2nd gathering ,
but it's been a loooong time since those, so you now have to come back! For you that couldn't make it, here's the last chance- I don't know when I'll have this fantastic opportunity to show most all of my artwork together again in such a beautiful space. So come by Friday eve- August 28th Gallery 55 in Natick, MA ! Details to follow.
I have delivered my portrait gift to the gifted medium John Holland of his dog Koda. I was inspired to do this because of John's generosity to the two animal causes -he donated over $30,000 to NHSPCA and Cocheco Valley Humane Society. A true lover of animals! Here is an article on the event and here is the
portrait of Koda. John said I caught him perfectly. Yay. A little chipmunk snuck in on the left- aside from plastic bottles, this is one of Koda's favorite things to chase.
Good news on the animal front- PETA is "convincing faculties to replace the use of animals with more effective, non-animal teaching methods."..." St. Vincent College in Pennsylvania ended a rat lab as well as all use of animals in its psychology courses, and the University of CT Health Center ended training procedures in which cats were having hard plastic tubes repeatedly forced down their wind pipes and rabbits had air forced into their chests, which were then stabbed with needles to relieve the pressure."
PETA has now opened an office in DC where they can apply more pressure on the politicians for helping animals. I know some feel PETA uses over the top antics, but where sick abuses have been going on behind the scenes,
PETA gets attention- check their site for just some of their activities. No one wants to be the subject of one of their exposés -like Ringling Bros lately...or KFC, and they have had a lot of success because of it. So because of their success record, I LOVE PETA. " If you love animals, don't enslave, exploit, wear or eat them" Ingid Newkirk & Alex Pacheco, Co-founders of PETA.
Visit my 'store' on my website to purchase a limited edition giclee print-easy with paypal- and 15% of sales will help support PETA in their expensive and dangerous undercover missions to expose what goes on in factory farms, circuses, lab testing, as well as all other operations....AND be the proud owner of a superlative copy ( Pictex )of an original Jane O'Hara painting- like 'Dreaming'.
" The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans, any more than black people were made for white, or women were created for men" Alice Walker
Last week we heard from the street Paul McCartney at Fenway Park, also a strong advocate for the animals. He was singing all old Beatles songs as far as I could make out, not his own music... interesting! Fun to hear ' Yesterday' and 'Let it Be" wafting through the streets of Fenway :)
Last but not least, here is a preview of my latest paintings, even before they've made it onto my website -
